Definition

InvisalignTM is a teeth alignment modality that is significantly less noticeable and more comfortable than traditional braces. InvisalignTM uses aligners that contribute almost no inference with your daily life activities.

Risks & Benefits of Invisalign

InvisalignTM treatment is a perfectly viable treatment option for anyone at any age who wants to improve their smile and perfect their teeth alignment. Misaligned teeth can give birth to a list of issues that will only worsen over time. For example:

  1. A misaligned jaw can make chewing food more difficult and cause teeth to wear down over time.
  2. Teeth that are crooked and too close to each other are more difficult to clean, which increases the risk of cavities and gum disease.
  3. The temporomandibular joint in the jaw is highly prone to complications as it is highly mobile and misaligned teeth worsen the risks which include headaches and jaw clicking. Crooked teeth can also contribute to muscle pain in the jaw.

The Process

Gold+ Invisalign Provider 2018

Dr. Nohora Martinez will begin your InvisalignTM treatment with a complimentary consultation. She is a foreign-trained orthodontist who qualified as a general dentist in Ontario. This allows her to perform orthodontic treatments, but at general dentist fees which are significantly lower than orthodontist specialist fees. Dr. Nohora Martinez is an InvisalignTM Gold Level preferred provider, indicating her high level of education, experience, and expertise in orthodontics- this recognition is only given to those who complete a high number of cases in a year.

If the misalignment of your teeth make you a good candidate for the Invisalign system, Dr. Martinez will design a customized treatment plan to determine to what degree your alignment and your invisible "aligners" will change throughout your scheduled program.

At the start of treatment, you'll wear a set of aligners in approximately two-week increments. These aligners move your teeth slowly into position, and at the end of each two-week period, you move on to the next set of custom aligners, to move your teeth to the next step. As you progress through the series of aligners, your teeth will be shifting, a little at a time. You can visibly see your smile start to change - you may even see positive changes early in the process.

iTeroTM Digital Impressions for Invisalign Patients

iTero

Victoriapark Dental uses iTero digital impressions! A thing of the past, we no longer use that gagging, messy putty once used for taking impressions of your teeth!

The iTero camera takes a digital, 3D picture of your teeth, providing an instant image. The digital image is electronically sent to the lab and is available in the Invisalign Clincheck system by the following day. The clarity, detail and accuracy of the iTero scan, rather than a putty impression, is superior. It's similar to watching high definition television instead of standard definition television. In removing the putty process, we have greatly increased the speed, accuracy and completely eliminated any need for repeated impressions to get the proper image of your teeth.

Another superior benefit to imaging rather than putty is that results are immediate and the amount of time it takes to create your customized aligners is greatly reduced.

With the aid of audio-visual prompts, magnified real-time video, and 3D virtual model articulation during the scanning process, the iTero also functions as an educational feedback device, allowing for immediate adjustment of any deficient preparation areas. The resulting benefits are significant: aligners with an improved and more comfortable fit and patients spend less time in the chair!
